PEOPLE CENTRED HERITAGE: EPISODE 4 // Gabrielle Harrington - Collingwood House - understanding the connection of people to place

In this video, heritage advisor Gabrielle Harrington describes how she gains a deep understanding of a site before developing policies on its conservation—especially a site with so many different connections to different groups of people. For this project, Extent Heritage was engaged to update the conservation management plan for Collingwood House.

As Gabrielle says: “The aim of the conservation management plan was to provide policies, guidance and a framework for the conservation of Collingwood House and also the land surrounding it. Collingwood House has significance as a site to three Aboriginal groups: the Tharawal people, the Darug, and the Gandangara. The purpose is to keep this place conserved for the future generations and to make sure we take care of our state heritage.”
