Heritage assessment and conservation begins with old-fashioned historical research in our libraries and archives. It is only when a place’s historical development is understood that it can be managed appropriately.

The Extent Heritage team includes experienced historians whose work identifies the important stories embodied by our heritage places and the ways that those places have evolved through time. Our place-makers use that information to share those stories in an engaging and informative way.

Extent Heritage is currently preparing a detailed Stage 2 assessment for Moreland City Council. The review includes a list of 620 places that were nominated by the public in 2016 and identified in a Stage 1 preliminary heritage assessment in 2019.
