Our breadth of expertise – in which our heritage specialists are complemented by experts in community engagement, anthropology and GIS – means that we are especially well equipped to develop holistic understandings of Australia’s multi-layered cultural environments.
We work closely with communities to identify the inter-relationships between heritage places and to understand and map cultural associations, fully appreciating that sometimes a landscape’s significance is greater than the sum of its individual parts.
Our work has informed government strategies, local planning schemes, sustainable approaches to mining and infrastructure development, and native title claims. It has particular relevance to the assessment and conservation of Indigenous cultural heritage places and landscapes, and places which hold ‘shared values’ to both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities.
