Dr Anita Smith recognised for Outstanding Leadership

We’d like to congratulate Extent Heritage Senior Associate who was recently named as a joint winner in the Engagement Australia 2020 Excellence Awards.

Nominated through her work at La Trobe University where she holds the position of Associate Professor of Archaeology and Heritage, she was named, together with Professor Roger Stone from the University of Southern Queensland (Toowoomba) in the Outstanding Leadership in Engagement Award.

The award recognises an individual who has made notable contributions to engagement above and beyond that expected for their role, resulting in sustained and impactful partnerships.

For Anita, in particular, the award was in recognition of her leadership in community engagement for heritage protection and management in the Pacific Islands and Australia, by supporting community conservation objectives and building capacity. This commitment spans over 20 years.

Anita is also a member of Australia’s delegation to UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee.

You can see all of the award announcements below, or watch this particular award from time mark 1 hour and 3 minutes.

Once again, a big congratulations to Dr Anita Smith from her colleagues here at Extent.
