Experience
Tom Sapienza has over ten years’ experience as an archaeologist and heritage advisor, and an additional ten years’ experience as a software developer. He has worked on Aboriginal and historic cultural heritage projects in Australia (in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, and Western Australia) and on prehistoric and historical archaeological projects in Norfolk Island, Tonga, Samoa, Tokelau, and the USA.

Tom has specialist skills in GIS analysis and cartographic design, and he aims to create clear and well-designed maps and to use quantitative spatial analysis to pull patterns out of archaeological datasets. He also has skills in writing and editing, which he put to use during a stint as a technical editor for the Journal of Community Archaeology and Heritage. Tom is an avid proponent of clear explanations for archaeological work and he has won awards for teaching world archaeology and Aboriginal archaeology at the university level.

Recent projects on which Tom has had heavy involvement include the Bathurst Regional Aboriginal Heritage Study, the Greater Macarthur / Northwest Growth Centre / Southwest Growth Centre heritage planning studies and the Windsor Bridge Replacement Project.
