Reconciliation Rocks nominated to the National Heritage List

Extent Heritage is proud to have advised the National Trust of Australia (Queensland) with the Hope Vale Congress Aboriginal Corporation in their joint nomination of Reconciliation Rocks, Cooktown to the National Heritage List.

Reconciliation Rocks is the place of Australia’s first recorded reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. In this 250th year since the arrival of the Endeavour to Australia, an event of immense importance to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians and their relationship to each other, Reconciliation Rocks tells a remarkable story, from the perspective of both cultures, of events that could be considered the blueprint for Australia’s ongoing movement toward reconciliation.
