Experience
Megan Sheppard Brennand is a research assistant working in Aboriginal archaeology and heritage management. She has an honours degree in Archaeology and Ancient History from the University of Sydney, with a specialisation in shell analysis. Megan has worked throughout New South Wales on Aboriginal and historical archaeological excavations. Her experience includes site surveying, excavation, desktop analysis, and post‑excavation analysis.
Megan has an in-depth knowledge of shell midden analysis in New South Wales and has been highly involved in the identification and quantification of shell midden material, both in her honours thesis and in various consulting projects with Extent Heritage. She can perform shell species identification and detect and classify human modification, such as shellfish hooks and alteration due to drilling or scraping.
